Men often fail to talk about or deal with their health issues. For that and other reasons, every 19 minutes, someone in his forties, fifties or older dies of prostate cancer.
Rabbi Ed Weinsberg was different. He suffered because of poor communication with one urologist, but consulted with another. While recovering painlessly from surgery, he wrote how men can conquer prostate cancer and treatment after-effects. Winner of the 2009 Nautilus Book Award Once diagnosed and treated, many men and their doctors don’t talk. Not about intimate concerns. Rabbi Ed’s initial confusion is typical. But after speaking more openly with the right specialist, he found the right treatment: robotic surgery. Now, Rabbi Ed wants to empower prostate cancer patients and their families. How? Through awareness and dialogue. He speaks openly about:
• Ten questions men should ask their doctors about prostate cancer.
• What women need to know.
• Robotic surgery and other treatment options— a survivor’s viewpoint.
• Sex after surgery—the truth.
• Why questioning God is natural, but having faith is essential.
