Remember Lassie, the brave and beautiful collie who saved children in peril and always found her way home? The fall of 2007 marked 50 years since a little boy named Timmy took to the airwaves with his and everyone’s favorite dog. Now, Jon Provost, known the world over as the boy who played Timmy, talks about the Golden Age of television, the studio system, and the brightest stars of the big and small screen.
Jon was front and center through it all, from the dissolution of the studio system to the revolutionary rise of the box that would come to transform and dominate American entertainment.
Everyone loves talking about their favorite television shows! Jon will dish the dirt with behind-the-scenes stories, take calls from listeners, and reveal:
• His experiences with Natalie Wood, Jack Benny, Kurt Russell, Elvis Presley and many of the other biggest superstars of the ’50s and ‘60s – including Mr Ed!
• That Cloris Leachman was originally cast in the June Lockhart role and other Lassie trivia.
• What it was like to grow up in the Hollywood spotlight.
• Coming of age on the Sunset Strip: the swinging Hollywood scene of the 1960s.
• How he avoided the pitfalls of extreme fame to become one of a few who thrived after child stardom.
