In Light of Israel’s Refusal

to Stop Building Settlements,

What Does Israel Really Want?

The building of Jewish settlements on Palestinian land in Israel

continues to be one of the most emotional issues related to

the decades-old conflict between the two ethnic groups.

Author and humanitarian activist

Miko Peled is the son of Israeli war

hero General Matti Peled and grew up in

Jerusalem, where he experienced the

segregation of Jews and Palestinians

firsthand. He says that peace in Israel

will be elusive, if not impossible, as

long as the angry rhetoric and mistrust

perpetuated by both sides prevail.

Israel, however, could change the dynamic of the stalled peace

process if it halts its settlements, Peled says.

On your show, he will analyze why Israel has thus far refused

to stop its aggressive building campaign, and explain why he

believes this is evidence of what Jewish leaders really want.

Ask him:

• What happens to Palestinians who are displaced

when new Jewish communities are built?

• How does the typical Israeli Jew view

Palestinians, and vice versa?

• Should the U.S. play a more significant role in the

peace process?

• How did the death of his 13-year-old niece in a

1997 suicide attack affect him?
