Tales of Reconciliation from
the Genocide in Rwanda
Fifteen years after the 1994 genocide which ravaged their nation and caused the deaths of an estimated one million Rwandans, survivors and perpetrators are coming face-to-face. Invite critically-acclaimed filmmaker
Laura Waters Hinson to discuss the unprecedented reconciliation taking place following the political turmoil of East Africa and her experiences filming in a nation emerging from the darkness of war.In recent years, prison overpopulation in Rwanda has led to the release of more than 50,000 people imprisoned for genocide. These former inmates are returning to the villages and communities where the crimes took place, forcing survivors to confront the question: Could you forgive a person who murdered your family?
